The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) announced the winners of its 2006 awards for Editorial Excellence.

For the fourth consecutive year, The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) has awarded Ming Pao Weekly with the most honours of any Chinese language magazine published in Hong Kong.

This year, Ming Pao Weekly had won 4 awards in Chinese Language Publications Category.

Ming Pao Weekly had won “ Excellence in Human Rights Reporting” & “ Excellence in Feature Writing” by the article reporting the life of miners in China. The judging panels commented “The article offers fresh, multiple –perspective reporting on critical human rights issues. Beautifully narrated stories of hardship and cruelty that go into greater depth than most human rights stories. A rare piece of journalistic on forgotten fighters.”
